Is SharePoint the future for document sharing?

19th December, 2022

Personally, I love paper – I’m visual and remember things I write down. But it’s like marmite you either love it or hate it.

Paper or screen… that is the question?!

It’s divisive but we all have a preference.

Personally, I love paper – I’m visual and remember things I write down. But it’s like marmite you either love it or hate it.

Paper is considered the old-fashioned way of working – on a logical level, it’s not efficient anymore. It messes up the office and it’s not particularly environmentally friendly either.

So, what’s the alternative?

It wasn’t so long ago that the world relied on a PC with windows 98 on it, dial-up internet and infinite patience – especially when it would sometimes take 24 hours to connect.

But look where we are now.

The digital evolution is incredible.

The way Bill Gates redefined the internet and the way we now use it, is truly mind-boggling!

And the release of Windows 11 and the new Office 365 suite in 2021 is making things even easier for businesses.

Is SharePoint the future for document sharing?

We want to introduce you to SharePoint.

SharePoint is a web-based collaborative platform that integrates with Microsoft Office. Launched in 2001, SharePoint is primarily sold as a document management and storage system, but the product is highly adaptable, and its usage varies substantially among businesses.

Because of its versatility, SharePoint is used by over 200,00 organizations and 190 million people worldwide. SharePoint provides the toolsets to help share and manage content, knowledge, and applications seamlessly across your organisation.

SharePoint has enabled businesses to put everything in one place – it has allowed business owners to have a 360 view of their business that they have never had before.

Here are our top 5 reasons why it’s so good…

1. It’s easy to install

Sharepoint can be implemented quickly and efficiently, and it can be managed across all areas of your business.

2. Easy to use

SharePoint’s capabilities are simple and easy to understand. You have full control over who has access to what areas of the business, what security you implement and how you use the software.

3. Fully integrated into your existing environment

SharePoint is fully customisable. From document storage and accessibility, and encryption. It will also allow you to fully support this new era of hybrid working.

4. Seamless

We all want simple, low-risk manageable environments. SharePoint does this.

Integration, deployment, and accessibility at your fingertips.

5. Support and new developments

It’s great having servers that do the simple tasks but it’s the complex issues that you may struggle with as a business leader.

This is where Riven can help.

We make sure we understand, plan and address any changes that may change your environment.
